PUZZLING WORLD JUNIOR CHALLENGE – World’s biggest
Boasting the world’s first 3-Dimensional Maze, the world’s most inclined tower (The Leaning Tower of Wanaka) and housing the world’s only Following Face illusion room the business that prides itself on leading the way can now add another title to its credentials - but this one has nothing to do with the business itself.
Since its inception 8 years ago, Puzzling World has been the main sponsor behind the Junior Challenge triathlon – a summer event that runs alongside its senior counterpart, the renowned Challenge Wanaka race series. Each year approximately 400 children splashed, pedalled and dashed their way along Wanaka’s incredible waterfront course cheered on by crowds of supporters and proud parents.
2016 bought about a change to the programme whereby the junior race was held on the Friday instead of Saturday, enabling all local primary schools the chance to include the race as part of their curriculum, and while the change meant out-of-town numbers declined, the start field, now aged five to ten numbered over 900 strong.
This, as reported by Challenge Wanaka’s Race Director Victoria Murray-Orr makes the Puzzling World Junior Challenge “the biggest in this age group out of 44 races. The next closest is Challenge Almere-Amsterdam (The Netherlands) with 600.” She adds, "It’s wonderful that one of the smallest host towns in the Challenge Family global series has the biggest Junior Challenge race. We’re extremely proud to be able to work with the local schools to add a unique dimension to their sports curriculum, encourage an active and healthy lifestyle for the region’s youngsters and to foster the growth of triathlon at a grass roots level. Puzzling World have supported Junior Challenge Wanaka since the very first event and their unwavering commitment has played a major role in the development of the event and the enjoyment of thousands of youngsters."
With the event encouraging keen kids, proud parents and mile-wide smiles, Puzzling World will line up once again next February to support this incredible race – will you?!
