Puzzling World Kids Week goes off!
The winter school holidays heralded the first Puzzling World Kids Week at Treble Cone ski resort and it proved so popular, the next few years have already been locked in.
A week-long programme that began with a “Puzzling Day” saw many of Puzzling World’s most popular table puzzles join a range of giant puzzles on the snow and in the café for kids of all ages (and a few curious adults) to have a try under the guidance of one of the attractions’ staff members.
“Having Justin run a table full of puzzles and games was a massive hit. From 1pm when we opened to 3:30pm when we closed, the tables were full” reported Michael Stern, Treble Cone’s Marketing Coordinator.
The following days featured Wanaka’s award-winning songstress Anna van Riel singing for a young audience, TC Cat’s ever-popular birthday events, a “world of weird” fancy dress day and finally the inaugural Junior Banked Slalom raced under 16 riders & sliders down a tough course to close the week.
When asked how the slalom event ran Michael was very pleased, ”For the first year of this event, we were absolutely rapt. We had 49 kids compete, zero injuries, loads of prizes and everyone had a great day”
Kids Week marked the first time Puzzling World has engaged in a major winter sponsorship deal and by all accounts won’t be the last. “I was so pleased with the event management and feedback received from my staff and parents at our business the following days that I’ve already signed on to sponsor the next 3 seasons and make it a marquee event for Puzzling World”, Duncan Spear, Puzzling World’s marketing manager said.
For those who couldn’t make it up the mountain the offering at Puzzling World, with its Great Maze, incredible Illusion Rooms, Puzzle Cafe and other architectural treats is always a beacon year-round that, like skiing, offers families a great activity where the intention is to not only stretch the legs but also minds too!
When planning your holiday to the Southern Lakes region this winter, make sure you not only visit some of the world class ski resorts on offer but also allow for a stopover at Wanaka’s wonderful world of weirdness, Puzzling World.
